Proper Tool Selection: Struck Tools

Hand Punches - for driving and removing pins and rivets, aligning holes in metal, marking metal.  Never use on stone or concrete.

Star Drills - for drilling holes in masonry (stone, concrete, brick, etc.) Strike with hand drilling hammer.  Rotate drill after each blow.

Brick Chisels and Brick Sets - for scoring and cutting brick block and masonry.  Strike with hand drilling hammer - not with bricklayer's hammer.  Never use on metal.

All-Steel Wood Chisels - for rough heavy duty wood cutting - as opposed to regular woodworkers chisels.

Wedges - for splitting - logs, firewood, staves, etc.  Strike with sledge or woodchopper's maul (with larger striking face that wedge).

Cold Chisels - for cutting and chipping cold metal (steel, cast and wrought iron, aluminum, brass, copper, etc.) Never use on stone or concrete.

 Floor Chisel - for rough cutting and trimming of both hard and soft woods.
